Die-cutting on both sides – twice as efficient, uniquely smart.

The innovative technology for fast and precise die-cutting of honeycomb board.

Honeycomb board has special requirements in the die-cutting process. Its high material thickness makes it difficult to cut through, and until now, several steps were necessary. This meant high time and labor costs – and often inaccurate results.

Marbach's solution makes die-cutting honeycomb board easier, faster, and more precise: the material is processed on both sides – top and bottom – in a single operation. Even particularly thick honeycomb board can be processed reliably and precisely in this way.

Two tools – one process

Honeycomb board is widely used as a packaging material: it is lightweight, stable, and recyclable. However, its thickness poses a challenge during processing. In practice, several steps were previously required: first, the top side had to be die-cut and embossed, then the material had to be turned manually, and finally the reverse side had to be processed.

Thanks to Marbach's patented double-sided die-cutting technology, this additional step is completely eliminated. The material is processed on both sides at the same time – in a single cycle. This not only saves time but also increases process reliability.

The technology is based on a two-part tool: a conventionally designed upper tool and a mirror-image lower tool. Particularly flexible: embossing can be arranged independently on both sides – for individual design options.

Technical advantages that impress
The new process is not only efficient, but also significantly more precise. Instead of cutting rules with heights of up to 150 mm, shorter, stable rules with heights of only 50 to 60 mm are now used. This reduced rule height ensures greater stability, minimizes deformation, and noticeably improves dimensional accuracy.

The consistent processing from above and below results in a clean, straight cut – ideal for a high-quality appearance and improved stackability of the end product.

The technology also offers clear economic advantages: The load is distributed evenly across the tool, reducing wear on the cutting rules. An additional anvil is no longer necessary, which saves costs and extends the tool life.
